B Naturals is an extracurricular singing group of students grades 6-8. Students interested in being part of the group must complete a successful audition in order to be considered for the ensemble. Students who participate in B Naturals perform at chorus concerts, community events, and competitions. Students must be in good standing academically in order to participate.
Diversity Club is open to students who feel passionately about equity and inclusion for all students despite their differences. We will meet twice a month and work to make our school feel safe and bully free for all.
Friendship Club is open to any 6th - 8th grade students and meets two times a month after school from 2:45 - 3:45 PM. Friendship club is an inclusion program that promotes friendship and acceptance for students with special needs and their general education peers.
Intramural Sports is open to any 6th grade student who would like to participate in team-building sports and competitions after school. Students learn how to work together, while acquiring skills necessary for dealing with both winning and losing. A sports physical is required to participate. Just as if you were playing a school sport.
Math Club is open to all students. We meet twice a month. Listen to announcements for exact dates and times. Hands-on activities are the focus. Mrs. Smith also welcomes ideas from the students. We would like to possibly get involved in some friendly math competitions for interested students. We will have a few parties and celebrate PI Day as well. Attendance is not mandatory.
Newspaper / The Lions Roar is open to all students. They will choose what to include in each quarterly issue. Journalists, fiction writers, poets, and artists are welcome. Samples of past issues can be found on the Thorne Homepage. This club meets after school in room 227 on Thursdays.
Stem Club is open to all students and helps to get students engaged in problem solving and it gives them the chance to use new technologies first hand. They meet twice per month on Mondays from 2:45 - 3:30.
Substance Abuse Awareness (Peer Leader) is exclusively for 8th graders who want to explore their own leadership skills and help influence peers to make good choices through outreaches and activities. We'll meet twice a month and will be required to take a drug free pledge.
Tech Tutor Club is open to all students. If you like technology, this is the club for you. We will work on both individual and group projects, computers, cell phones, apps, coding, virtual reality, etc. We will meet one-two times a month. Attendance is not mandatory.
